Artino 5 Hole Cello Endpin Stop - Rosewood Review

(More customer reviews)Perhaps it is because I have seen a similar product of bigger sizes. I was disappointed when I received this endpin stop. The wood pieces are 7"x2.75" and 0.25" thick. The endpin holes are relatively small. Therefore you need to remove the endpin rubber to use it.
The craftsmanship is good. If you like a light weight design, this product might be good for you. But personally I still think $20 is too expensive.
I learned the lesson to buy anything online only when the seller gives clear description of an item. A good picture is never good enough!

(More customer reviews)Beautifully made using latest high-tech materials make this tailpiece lighter than any other I have tried. This provided a small but noticable improvement in the voice of my instrument. Also it was easy to get the afterlenght just right with this part so I am pleased in all respects. Well worth the price. The only thing that could make it better and kept me from giving five stars is a minor redesign allowing a bar for the strings to rest on between the adjusters and the nut would keep the string lengths uniform and prevent minor voice changes as the fine tuners move through their range.
Still, very much worth the price and light, attractive, and good sounding. I am well pleased.

But I had a nagging feeling I could still attain something better from my rosin. 6 months ago while I was looking for a new bow, I noted to myself mentally that the luthier used Bernardel rosin. So just last week I decided to order a cake of Bernardel. The results blew away my underwhelming conceptions of the impact of rosin!
I've had some difficulty with slow bowing near the bridge, for that really full sound. Honest as I can be, the second I put this stuff on, all scratching at the sound point nearest the bridge was completely eliminated, and my volume and fullness remarkably augmented.
I next attempted other types of bow strokes, and I became completely blown away by the compliance of this rosin. Literally new nuances have been added to my sound. The off-the string and bouncing strokes have acquired an unbelievable crispness of execution that I had honestly never even conceived. When I attempt ricochet across the four strings successively, the bow pops perfectly on each string, back and forth, with unbelievable articulation.
Employing this product has introduced me to the fact that your sound and your entire way of playing in regards to your right-hand can be revolutionized by a simple and small investment. I highly recommend Bernardel with my utmost confidence! Let me finally add that this rosin produces basically no dust with almost unnoticeable accretion of residue on the top plate and on the bow shaft.

(More customer reviews)I have been an immense fan of Pirastro's strings for over ten years and am always excited to try their new products. Thus, I purchased a set of Wondertones when they first came out a few years ago. But to be honest, I wasn't all that happy with them. Don't get me wrong, they are still better than most every other string that you will find (especially Dominant), but they just aren't quite as good as they could be. They lack the brillance and projection of the Evah Pirazzis or the rich, warm, almost dark tone of the Obligatos or Olivs.
If you are very particular about your violin strings, I would probably spend the extra $20 or so and pick up a set of Pirazzis or Obligatos.

Becker BB1 Violin Bridge 4/4 Review

(More customer reviews)This is a typical maple 4/4 violin bridge. Mine actually showed up with a ding on the top edge. I just lowered the action a little by sanding down that edge and the nick was removed, but still . . . I wasn't happy being sold damaged goods. The inside scroll work looks good and the edges are crisp: I don't have any complaints otherwise.
This definitely isn't a drop in replacement. You will have to sand the feet to sit flatly against your sounding board since every violin is different. You'll also need to bevel the top edge and notch it to hold the strings. Do an internet search for how to fit a violin bridge and you should be able to do it yourself. The only supplies you need are a sheet of 220 grit sandpaper and razor blade / tiny file (to cut the notches).
I say 4 stars instead of 5 because of the minor top edge damage.

This is DEFINATELY my favorite by far. great grip and doesn't produce much dust. I was using this to play on the Bach Cello Suites (arranged for viola) and it gave me great volume, and, I could play softly (on the string, not in) and not sound muffled or airy, due the wonderful tack of the rosin. BUY!!

I originally thought the price was a little bit on the expensive side, but I decided to go ahead with them. I have been using them very much for 3 weeks now and they are truly brilliant. They feel much more flexible than any other strings I have ever had. The G and D sound very strong and rich on my violin, the A is all-right (nothing special/nothing bad), and the E string is very Brilliant. All the strings have a very loud, but rich tones that bring a sounding confidence to my playing. They all respond well, but you do need to apply more rosin than it would take for all other strings. I have never written a review, but I always base what I buy off of the reviews and I am glad to say that I recommend these very much.

(More customer reviews)While I haven't really had a whole lot of experience trying out other rosins, I've usually been of the opinion that it didn't really matter what rosin you used, as long as it's sticky. I didn't really know that rosin could be effective. Then a stand partner told me that this was the only rosin she ever used, so I figured "Well, hey, if it's just average rosin, I'll still have an average rosin cake that'll last forever."
So I ordered it, got it about a week earlier than advertised. (The box arrived before I got the e-mail saying it'd shipped.)
Needless to say, I use it on all of my bows now. It works particularly well on Incredibows (if you know what those are), which is what I use most of the time. I imagine it would work very well with other types of synthetic bows. It is also very effective - I remember in middle school when I'd have to spend a solid five minutes getting rosin on my bow - Andrea rosin will "stickify" your bow in one or two sweeps. I've also noticed a distinct decrease in E-string squeaks since I started using it.
