(More customer reviews)Beautifully made using latest high-tech materials make this tailpiece lighter than any other I have tried. This provided a small but noticable improvement in the voice of my instrument. Also it was easy to get the afterlenght just right with this part so I am pleased in all respects. Well worth the price. The only thing that could make it better and kept me from giving five stars is a minor redesign allowing a bar for the strings to rest on between the adjusters and the nut would keep the string lengths uniform and prevent minor voice changes as the fine tuners move through their range.
Still, very much worth the price and light, attractive, and good sounding. I am well pleased.

They go on easily, with a little dish-washing detergent. You trim off any overhang. If you have a Wolf-style shoulder rest, you will eventually need these. Mine lasted for 18 months before the first one needed to be replaced.

(More customer reviews)I have been an immense fan of Pirastro's strings for over ten years and am always excited to try their new products. Thus, I purchased a set of Wondertones when they first came out a few years ago. But to be honest, I wasn't all that happy with them. Don't get me wrong, they are still better than most every other string that you will find (especially Dominant), but they just aren't quite as good as they could be. They lack the brillance and projection of the Evah Pirazzis or the rich, warm, almost dark tone of the Obligatos or Olivs.
If you are very particular about your violin strings, I would probably spend the extra $20 or so and pick up a set of Pirazzis or Obligatos.

(More customer reviews)This is one of my favorite e strings, although lately it is erratically available. It combines well with many different string combinations for the G, D, and A. Many people recommend it to top off Dominants, making the entire violin sound fundamentally more ringing and brilliant. I have used it with Visions, Infeld Blues, as well as Dominants, and find that it just feels more responsive and open than the native e strings of those sets. It gives my violin a more open and ringing sound, and it lasts a long time, more than a year, where I feel I'm just changing it out because of time, and felt not much difference between a new string and the old one. It never squeaks ever!
It has a nice clear sound all the way up the fingerboard, is great for doublestops involving both the open e and the fingered e string. I think it's the string for you to play Vivaldi's Winter.

(More customer reviews)Having being a fan of the Vision string set, I had always been worried about the Vision e string. It did not match the set for brilliancy and strength. On my violin it (the vision e) lacked some response and did not resonate as well. So I thought to replace it with a Jargar forte e, however those being hard to find, I searched through my e-string bags and found a Tonica e. I figured I'd try it to see if there is an improvement to the Vision e, not expecting anything. However once I strung up my violin, I could hear the ringing sound and confirmed that it had more depth and presence as well as better response. The rest of the set is Vision, and matches very well with this Tonica e.

(More customer reviews)The Dominant strings sets the standard for synthetic violin strings, and is usually the default string to put on an instrument. It is middle of the road, and gives a pretty decent, although somewhat sterile, tone. When it is new, there is a slight metallic feel, but that goes away after it is stretched out. They last about 2-3 months, fairly bright, but with good overtones, and then gradually get duller. The E string is just ordinary, and many people substitute a different E string (such as Pirastro Gold). I like the Kaplan Solo E string with the Dominant G, D, A.

(More customer reviews)I recently changed all my violin strings to Zyex, and I can say nothing but good things about them. They set quickly, and have a rich, slightly dark sound. They are loud and have very quick bow response.
The only possible negative thing I can say about these strings is that they take slightly more pressure to play in 3rd or 4th position, but as I have only been playing the violin for four years, it could be that there is some mistake in my technique.
I am a classical player, but I would recommend these strings for any type of music.

(More customer reviews)These are great strings. I suppose it all depends on the instrument. I have a single-back, $4000-ish violin. Certainly not a strad, but not a garage-sale model either. The Dominant strings made it really bright, almost obnoxious. I didn't really understand what I didn't like about the violin until I put these strings on. Now, I sound like a pro. The strings are well balanced, especially going from A to E. I can get a variety of tones from the instrument. I especially like the darker tone. All-in-all, I'm really happy with these strings.

There are two kinds of E strings. The gold-plated E strings are manufactured using a special process, which considerably improves their performance and sound in relation to conventional gold-plating methods. The 'silver' E strings are galvanised, which allows their sound characteristcs to come to the fore unimpaired. The rest of the strings have a composite core, which fulfills all the functional characteristcs expected of a great string. The first winding of the string consists of a alloy which actually occurs in Nature, which is why it is designated as 'Natural Alloy'. Already centuries ago this type of alloy was regarded as having special properties. The G string is wound in pure silver, assuring optimum density. The A and D strings are wound with an alloy called hydronalium, which makes for good bow contact and excellent balance between bowing noise and resultant string sound.
