(More customer reviews)I needed a quick fix for live performance with my cello and this pickup was very affordable. Well, you get what you pay for. It works, but just barely. I had to run my cello through an EQ pedal to boost the signal, which got me there, but the recreation of the sound was a little off. The bass generally didn't resonate very well and I tended to have an issue with hum (a ground loop @ 60Hz that had to be eq'd out). I've since bought a Shadow SH 955 Nanoflex Pickup and haven't looked back. The Fishman gets the job done, but expect to have to boost your signal A LOT to use it live. I'm told the preamp Fishman sells as an accessory will solve all the problems I had, but for the cost of both of them you can get a Shadow pickup or another one of the competitors.

(More customer reviews)Although pricey, I find this a very low-noise, high quality cable. I like the break switch on the right angle connector, but the jury is still out on the durability of the switch There are two things that keep this cable from getting five starts.
1. The connectors are HUGE, and silvery-gray. I guess that makes it distinguishable ion the bottom of the bag though. I have one guitar with a recessed/angled cord jack, and this cable is too big to fit into it properly.
2. The cable itself is somewhat stiff. It's probably because it has better shielding properties, but it's more difficult to coil than my other Planet Waves cables.

(More customer reviews)This is my third sax mic. This one is rugged enough to withstand the rigors of active movement on gigs. The bell clamps on the other two would fall off if lightly bumped while moving around on stage. They eventually died after being knocked around so many times. The Audio-Techica has a good ,solid bell clamp. The tonal quality is great! The only down side, if any, is it requires phantom power. That is not a problem for me , as all my mixers have phantom power, plus I have a pre-amp with phantom power that can be used with a mixer without a phantom power feature.
All in all a great mic for gigs.

Cremona SVA-130 Premier Novice Viola, 14-Inch Review

The price was excellent and it was about 1/3 of the price of renting a Viola from the local strings retailer. We researched online to learn how to place the bridge and tune it. I was able to use my electronic guitar tuner to tune all but one of the strings. I also have a piano which I used to tune the last string. The whole process of placing the bridge, tightening the stings and tuning took about 1/2 hour, and by looking up ""bridge" and "tuning a viola" I found step-by-step instructions online of how to do it. We were also able to look up how to get the correct size for our son online before chosing this size. My son has been playing this Viola now for one month. He loves it! His teacher says that his is the best intrument in the Viola section at our school, because it has very good fine tuners, and a really good sound. We hightly recommend this instrument to anyone who is looking for a good quality student viola. This Viola comes with the bow, case, rosen and a music book compartment. Stylish, functional piece of equipment. Chair strap helps tremendously on slippery auditorium floors. Finish is durable and beautiful. Tremendous value for the product. As for sound enhancement, I did not notice anything different whilst playing aside from my endpin not slipping away from me with the cello attached.
Detriments:
Tricky to set up at first, it wasn't obvious to me initially whether to use the black plastic dot or the pre-drilled hole. Rubber padding convenient isolator and slip-stopper; however, it is very unreliable on its own on slippery hardwood floors. Chair strap is removable although I highly recommend its use on every floor without carpeting.
Side note:
Although I have only played on this rock stop for a few months, it seems hardy enough to withstand years of use, even in college.

Cremona SC-100 Premier Novice Cello, 1/8 Size Review

(More customer reviews)I have bought this Cremona cello for my then 5 year old son. I did not expect much from it, therefore I was pleasantly surprised when I heard it. It has a very nice sound, which is, of course, the most important thing for the instrument, it truly sealed my son's love for cello. Besides sounding great it is well built, fine tuners are invaluable and it is wonderful that this cello actually has them. (Some small cellos do not have fine tuners at all). The end pin has a safe point and it slides in and out easily and can be easily adjusted in height. The bow is decent and the nylon case is durable, can be washed, has handy pockets and obvioulsly is very light, another positive aspect when one keeps in mind who is going to carry the instrument on his/her back.

I didn't notice that so many pinting were peeled off already.I did see some peeled off pinting when I got the cello, but I thought it wouldn't be a big problem for using. The cord is too short, I'd estimate around 5-6 feet, so you may have difficulty playing your piano if it isn't up against the wall. (Additionally, it will serve as a tripping hazard if your piano is positioned 3-4 feet away from the wall.)

Super-Sensitive Sensicore Bass Viola de Gamba Strings, Set Review

(More customer reviews)With all due respect to the other review, I had a very different and far more positive experience with these strings. I have two custom Gambas, built in 1971 & 1972, as well as a 5-string fidel built in 1993. I put Pirastros on the Gambas when I first got them, and the strings started to unravel within 3 weeks and several broke within a month. Shortly thereafter, I put Sensicores on, and have NEVER needed to change them to this day! Not one broke or unraveled. On the fidel, one broke at the nut, but there was a small edge, that, once filed, has not sacrificed any strings at all, and they have been played at many concerts, including the White House in 1977. Several possible factors: My gambas are a tad smaller than full-size, measured from a Division Viol, so the tension is less. In addition, after my initial gut-wrenching expenses(Sorry!), I got light rather than medium-gauge strings. They give a great sustain, a very quick response, and at nearly 40 years of age, are easy on the pocket. It's been said by some others that these strings are badly made, but I have had some serious Viol-players from England and America try the gambas and they all felt the sensitivity and response were astounding. Go figure!
