(More customer reviews)This is my third sax mic. This one is rugged enough to withstand the rigors of active movement on gigs. The bell clamps on the other two would fall off if lightly bumped while moving around on stage. They eventually died after being knocked around so many times. The Audio-Techica has a good ,solid bell clamp. The tonal quality is great! The only down side, if any, is it requires phantom power. That is not a problem for me , as all my mixers have phantom power, plus I have a pre-amp with phantom power that can be used with a mixer without a phantom power feature.
All in all a great mic for gigs.

Fishman V-200-M Professional Violin Pickup w/mini Mic Review

(More customer reviews)I received this product new with the mini Mic not soldered onto the 1/4" jack. The customer support from Fishman was so difficult to deal with regarding this problem I had to pay a Fishman 3rd party repair person to fix the problem.
That said, the contact mic is decent but the mini Mic is practically useless and picks up almost no sound. A good contact mic and good preamp work just as well. I've used this pickup for classical, jazz, and rock styles- the contact mic helps when playing with drums or other loud instruments, but a functioning mini Mic would have made this product good for solo work as well.

(More customer reviews)I'm in a band and use this for gigs. It's perfect for the person who doesn't want to commit to scratching up their violin or committing to the more permanant pickup solution. I like it because it highlights the quality sound of my violin with no feedback. It is small and compact and folds away nicely in my violin case. What I like is that it's portable and I can use it with any of my violins. It's definately worth every penny :-)

It is way better than your run-of-the-mill pickup; for one thing it can't fall out of the bridge like most do occasionally, it doesn't mute the sound, and I never get any feedback. I originally intended to put this bridge on my nice violin (for classical) and have it be an all-purpose instrument; however, my luthier advised against this, saying the thicker bridge slightly changes the tone of your violin. I therefore opted to get a cheaper "show" violin to install it on to use with my band. Once electrified, you can't really tell the difference anyway. I use it with the L.R. Baggs Acoustic DI, and couldn't be happier!

(More customer reviews)I'm a guitar player, not a violinist, but I purchased this pickup for my daughter who has been playing violin for several years. I also run the sound board at our church and it's always been difficult to get the violin mic'd, so I thought I'd find a pickup suitable for violins. My first pick was a Fishman V100 Violin Pickup, which is similarly priced. Please learn from my lesson and avoid that product; the method for attaching it to the violin amounts to a zip tie that straps the jack to the tail-piece, not to mention that my unit failed to produce any sound once installed. The Barcus Berry is a great product. It installed securely to the violin in 10 minutes and it produced good tone, even through my guitar amp. In a nutshell, this product works!

Fishman Classic Series V-100 Violin Pickup Review

(More customer reviews)I agree that attaching this type of pickup is awkward at best, but the quality of the sound is excellent for a pickup at this price (you really need a high quality microphone for true sound reproduction, which has its own issues). This price is very reasonable, but if you want to spend a little more Fishman also makes a model with a clamp-on 1/4" jack that I imagine is much easier to use.
