It fits well in her lap, and though the case is kind of crappy, the guitar itself works very well for her. She loved the stickers that came with it, and even though we will be getting her a new guitar strap later on, this one works okay for right now. Its not something I expect her to be playing in thirty years, but it is a great starter piece for a kid.

Guitar is 38 inches in length and come with Steel Strings. The guitar has Linden Binding and wood construction with geared tuning. This violin kit comes complete with violin, bow, case, rosin, and a free violin tuner worth $20. Violin comes with a metal tailpiece with 4 tuners - making tuning easy. The bow comes with real horsehair providing solid playability and sound volume. Violin comes with bridge already setup and ready to play. Violin top is hand carved solid spruce and violin back is hand carve solid maple. The violin also comes with real inlaid purfling on both the violin top and back. Fingerboard, chinrest and tuning pegs are made out of hardwood. Bow comes with this violin kit is made out of round stick and Mongolian horsehair with rosewood frog. The kit also includes 1 rosin. The violin case is light weight made out of foam and covered with nylon. The well fitted interior design protects violin from excessive movement while in transit. Velcro neck strap holds the violin securely from movement. A matching blanket is included to further protect the violin against loose bows and items in the case. There are 2 bow holders in the case. Within an hour of opening he was already trying to learn with the accompanying materials. The case is also sturdy and very nice. It was shipped as a gift and the gift bag it was packaged in was a large blue velvet material with a yellow string, making it perfect as a Christmas gift! I was very pleased with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)We are very unhappy with the condition of the product we received and with the tone of the response to my complaint directly to the company which sent the item, Emedia Music. The violin arrived with the strings all off. There was no indication that assembly is required in Amazon's product information on the website. When I first spoke to a representative of the company, I was told that the dvd which comes with the violin explains everything about how to attach the strings. This would have been true for someone who was already quite knowledgable about these instruments, but certainly not for a "layman". And I should not be required to sit with a set of needle-nose pliers which EMedia's representative said I would need, and try to understand on the phone how to somehow get the strings back on. This is what the man from the company told me I would need to try next. At the very least, we feel an apology was in order from him, with the preferable response being instructions on shipping the entire thing back (at their expense, or Amazon's) for replacement/repairs.

We visited a local violin store, and they told us that the reason the strings were all off was because the bridge is the wrong size and was unable to support the strings. They also told us it would cost [...] for them to supply the correct bridge, and another [...] or so just to restring the instrument once we got the new bridge.

Meanwhile, our little daughter has yet to even get to try out her new violin that she was so excited about. She is becoming less excited...

(More customer reviews)My son is doing violin in school. We've been spending money every month on renting. I got this as a back-up because it was so affordable. Something to take out-of-town without worrying it it is damaged or lost. The violin came and was comparable to the one we were writing a check for every month, so we are take the other back once the agreed rental period is over.
The violin also comes with some very nice teaching software. He's been learning for a year+ but we skipped ahead to more advanced lessons in the program. The teaching program is very good. I wish we had it when he was just starting out. He really struggled in the beginning. He's getting a lot of of the program as the lessons go quite far. There is also a feature where you play into a microphone and can see the note you are playing. This is very helpful.
This kit also come with a case, and bow and rosin. It has everything needed for a beginner or your first purchase.
