Gator Cases Deluxe ABS Full-Size Violin Case for 4/4-Size Violin Review

Desiring more rugged protection for my primary violin, I purchased this sturdy case.
There were several critical issues with this case.
1. This case was too narrow to accommodate either of my two (dimensionally typical) 4/4 "real" violins or my (somewhat slim) electric violin.
2. The bottom bow holder wasn't deep enough for a full sized bow (manufacturing defect?)
3. The "lining" of the case, while soft, was a shaggy substance, certain to capture rosin and eventually damage the violin's oil/varnish.
4. The top bow holder, while deep enough, exerted _sideways_ pressure on the bow (which will ruin a wood bow).

I am reviewing my experience with SKB as a manufacturer of cases for equipment. It's pretty beefy. I would trust them to protect my daughter's violin but would like to see some numbers. If they had said it withstood x pounds in a crush test i would give them the fivestars.

(More customer reviews)Bought this Violin Case to alter into a AK-47 DRACO gun case, it worked wonderfully!
It is a strong and well built case. The 20" long DRACO fit into the 22" case very nicely, with no wobble room. I had to pull the liner out, break away some of the styrofoam under the black velvet liner, but I was able to re-use the beautiful liner to showcase the DRACO.

Student quality thermoplastic violin case with aluminum valence and draw-tight latches. The 4/4 through 1/2 size cases have two accessory pockets. The 1/4 - 1/16 size have one accessory pocket. Each case has two french style bow holders with a soft AE cover to protect the top of the instrument. The plush black interior has a suspension style interior at the body.
