(More customer reviews)I am currently watching my 6-almost-7 year-old work happily in this book. She has asked for a violin for her 7th birthday, and I plan to teach her the basics (we live in a rural area with no string teachers nearby, and though I've never taught violin, I do play myself). I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the violin. It engages a child of this age on every level. The imaginative illustrations, repetition, color-coding, stickers, etc., keep her both interested and motivated, while doing a great job of teaching and reinforcing the concepts. I think this book would work well for students from ages 4 through 9. Pre-readers would need to be guided, but they would be able to do the activities, and readers (like my daughter) can work pretty independently through it. I would highly recommend this to parents and teachers, and especially to parent-teachers like myself!
