(More customer reviews)I have a modern 1992 handmade viola from the W.H. Lee shop. It is a bright, responsive viola and I love it, but sometimes I wish I had a little more warmth without losing the quick response and big sound. I have experimented with many strings over the years but I always come back to Dominants. Most other strings seem to have a metallic sound that doesn't work with my viola at all. It has been a few years since i experimented, but I noticed Thomastik had a new line of viola strings, the Vision Solo. Skeptical, I bought only the A string to give it a test run. I love it! I would say they exceed Dominants in their responsiveness and clarity of sound, but have a bit more warmth - exactly what I was looking for! I highly recommend them, but with the caveat that every instrument sounds different and will respond differently to a set of strings. For me, this is the only one besides Dominants that I have ever liked on my viola.
