(More customer reviews)I purchased this violin as a gift for my 3 year old granddaughter who, unfortunately, did not start her lessons with in the 10 day refund period of purchase. When her teacher looked at the instrument, she sent my daughter to a technician who found the following issues with the instrument: hair pulling loose from frog on bow; wrong size strings for instrument; soundpost too long; endpin drilled at an incorrect angle so it could not be fitted properly and A peg hole cut at an angle and too close to back wall so there was not enough room between the peg with a string on it and back of the pegbox wall. Bottom line, this instrument is good for nothing except use as a toy - it is not repairable. The technician could not believe this instrument was sold as a playable instrument. When I contacted Music Basics about a replacement instrument or a refund, I was informed that my cpmplaint was past the 10 day deadline!

This violin comes with genuine ebony tuning pegs and fingerboard and not hardwood. Ebony is preferred over hardwood since it is a harder wood and provides more tuning stability and playability. This is the only difference between this model and the VLN-10 model. This violin kit comes complete with violin, bow, case, rosin, and a free violin tuner worth $20. Violin comes with a metal tailpiece with 4 tuners - making tuning easy. The bow comes with genuine horsehair. Violin comes with bridge already setup and ready to play. Violin top is hand carved solid spruce and violin back is hand carve solid maple. The violin also comes with real inlaid purfling on both the violin top and back. The kit also includes 1 rosin. The violin case is light weight made out of foam and covered with nylon. The well fitted interior design protects violin from excessive movement while in transit. Velcro neck strap holds the violin securely from movement. A matching blanket is included to further protect the violin. There are 2 bow holders in the case. Violin neck/head area is large enough to hold shoulder rest. There is an accessory compartment for storing rosin, strings, etc. (3" Width by 3-1/2" Length by 2-1/2" Depth). Case has outside pocket for holding music and accessories. 1 adjustable shoulder strap is included allowing carrying the case over the shoulder ' taking violin to lesson, school or orchestra practice is made easy. The free tuner included is to help you tune the violin. The tuner can tune all 4 strings. The tuner is also a guitar tuner and a chromatic tuner all in one. This violin model is available in 4/4, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/10, 1/16, 1/32 sizes.
