(More customer reviews)i was looking for an electric violin to practice with and chose this one. i bought it off of a different site but it was the same outfit. i played violin for about 4 years when i was in elementary school, and have only been playing for a month now after deciding to play again.
the first thing i noticed was that the paint has a subtle glitter added to it, which i loved. you can't really tell in the pics.
i compared the level of loudness with the acoustic violin i have. when i put a brass mute on that one, the sound is slightly louder than this electric one. so if you wanted to make the sound even quieter, you could put a mute on this one as well and it's very silent.
the headphones are super cheap-feeling and i wouldn't even use it for a backup b/c it's so flimsy and doesn't fit on the ears correctly. the sound through the headphones (i used my own) was loud and clear.
the bow is a bit heavier at the frog than my other bow for the acoustic.
i don't know anything about rosins or the bridge, so these seem fine to me.
the pegs turned ok for me, and if it slips, i chalk up the pegs with graphite.
the shoulder area gets uncomfortable so i do use a shoulder rest w/this violin (i don't use one with my acoustic).
the case is light, which i like, and it has the 2 straps in the back to carry it like a backpack. it also has a handle loop on the back (as well as on the side, as you can see in the pic). you can barely fit 8.5"x11" sheets of paper in the pocket but i still have to fold my violin books in half for it to fit inside.
the weight of the violin is different from an acoustic in that it's a bit unbalanced and feels heavy towards the chinrest but i've gotten used to it. i just wanted something that was quiet and this one fits the bill and it looks nice w/o being too crazy-looking... it still keeps the classic shape and would look almost like a work of art when i hang it on my wall.
