G Series NEX Flamed Maple Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)If you are into fingerstyle blues - this Korean made Takamine guitar is a great place to start. It features a well matched spruce top, laminated maple sides and back and an excellent electronic system that includes a tuner. The tone on this model is "old blues" with just a hint of brightness...but is missing just a little mid range, however this is something that should improve with playing. The violin burst finish is matte in texture and in color has that old faded blues box look. The neck is in a mild v shape, 14 frets accessible, with a nut width of 1 11/16. If you have big fingers, perhaps further research into guitars with nut widths of 1 3/4 would be in your interest, but I have found it to be comfortable.
I bought it to replace another guitar that I had outgrown and have found this to be an excellent intermediate choice. Perfect for learning fingerstyle blues.
The only negatives is that the back and sides are maple laminate and this model lacks a cutaway. However, for the cost this is a good value and if you feel the need for a cutaway - Takamine makes this model with the same finish plus the cutaway.
Recommended and good value for what you will spend!!!!

Yamaha CPX500 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Old Violin Sunburst Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a great guitar. Well made and with quality materials and comes with metal "strings". Attractive looking...the sound hole has a nice inlay. The guitar comes conveniently with its own built in tuner so you can make a quick check before each play. Nice sounding with deep rich lower notes. I also have the APX500 and this (CPX500) definitely has a better sound in the lower range than the APX. The CPX is a good guitar for serious beginners too. It's nice sound encourages play. Yamaha makes two cases for this a cheaper one, GA01 and the better GA37. The guitar fits snugly in the GA37 and together, they are both quite heavy. The GA01 is quite light understandably since it is much less expensive.

The CPX500 makes the CPX range available at an all new pricepoint. With a spruce top and Nato back and sides this guitar projects a warm and full sound while the larger body size of the CPX range offers a bigger, fuller sound than the smaller bodied APX guitars.

(More customer reviews)This is a very good buy, a wonderful guitar. Frets are very precise, the sound is truly good and a guitar feels like any of much more expensive ones. I have three other guitars (some were paid were more than this one) but this wonderful Yamaha is my favorite.

Yamaha APX500FM Acoustic Electric Guitar, Old Violin Sunburst Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a very attractive guitar and appealed to me because of the price point and the positive reviews I had seen of this instrument. However it was not a good fit for me and was returned.
I had 2 issues.
1. Frets are pretty small and I was struggling to form chords that I can play with ease on my Fender Stratocaster.
2. There is a lack of bass when playing this guitar acoustically, probably due to it's slimmer body.
Overall I would not recommend buying any guitar unless you try it out first in store. I made that mistake with this guitar. Go to your local store, check out the different guitars you are interested in. Once you have a couple shortlisted go online and see if you can get a better price.
